How To Fix A Horse Blanket

how to fix a horse blanketWell…it’s in the middle of winter…and your two big ole’ geldings decide to play war games and one gets his  blanket ripped, and you say…

“Where do I find out How To Fix A Horse Blanket”?

Well you came to the right place!  I have been around horses for years…and if you’re like me, you always have a roll of duct tape around.

If it’s a straight rip…take the duct tape and lay it over the rip.

Next get a large eye needle, you know the kind they use for embroidery, and some thin dental floss.

Thread the needle with the dental floss, and sew the duct tape onto the blanket.  This will keep the tape in place until you can get it repaired in the spring.

Now a word of caution.  Duct tape being the wonderful gooey thing that it is…it leaves a sticky residue on the blanket.  So if you have another blanket you can switch in the mean time…that would keep him warm until spring…that might be a good idea too.

I have run into this exact same problem myself.  And if you’re stuck without an extra blanket, I have found some really great buys on brand new winter sheets and turnouts on Ebay.

Now I thought I would share this with you too…I saw another horse gal that has written a book about Horse Blanket Repair.  She tells you how you can make your own repairs and make money at the same time!

I thought this was a great idea!  The only thing is…I’m not sure what kind of machines you would need for something like this, but it might be worth checking out…  www.makemoneyhorseblanketrepair.com

Whatever you decide to do…at least now you know how to fix a horse blanket in a pinch!
